About Our Roots

We are Gaia is a global community of regenerative practitioners that grew from the organic spread of Cards for Life™ — a tool for living systems thinking.

From that growth emerged a group of stewards who have adapted the cards and the Thinking like Gaia training into their own languages and regions. We are Gaia exists to coordinate and nurture this global community of practice — and to do so in a way that is, like life itself, decentralised, relational and always growing from the edges.

Our Purpose

Our shared mission is to spread a living systems worldview as widely as possible across languages. We do this through Cards for Life and the Thinking like Gaia facilitator training, enabling people to create spaces for others. This work grows naturally through relationships and transformative experiences - growing at the speed of life.

How We Grow

We grow through invitation and iteration, working with the dynamic of attraction. We scale out through partners in each region who carry this orientation, and support them to root and expand this work locally. We believe that how we do things may be even more important than what we do. Embedding and embodying life’s patterns is both our offering and continuous practice.

Translations in progress

Since 2023 we have seen diverse adoption by teams and organisations across conservation, computing, education, design, leadership and business. The Thinking like Gaia training has now run in 14 cohorts as well as three bespoke organisational programmes.

We track reach and impact but our aim is depth, practitioners and teams begin a practice of integrating this language into their work over years. To shift cultures away from mechanistic thinking towards a living systems worldview takes time but we offer tools and processes that are easy to adopt and quick to apply.
